This small village lies at the boundary of two of Slovakia`s highest mountain ranges, the High Tatras and Western Tatras. There are three Tatra valleys in the vicinity: Kamenistá, Tichá and Kôprová valleys. The area is bordered by two important peaks, Bystrá (2 248 above sea level), the highest peak in the Western Tatras and the majestic High Tatras peak, Kriváň (2 494 above sea level), one of the national symbols of Slovakia. The village is splendid for quiet walks in the pine forests, but also for more challenging mountain hikes to the surrounding summits. The valley roads and mountain terrain close by are suitable for cycling, in winter ideal for skiing and cross-country skiing. There is a ski lift which will satisfy the needs of beginners and families with children.
The village offers many possibilities for accommodation, of which the most well-known is Grand hotel Permon**** with the largest wellness complex in Slovakia, Permon´s Paradise. The second hotel is Hotel Pieris*** (previously hotel Kriváň), which offers its services again after complete renovation.
You can also be accommodated in one of the annexes of Grand hotel Permon**** - the exclusive PINIUS or popular PERMONÍK, which houses the traditional Slovak restaurant KOLIBA. Apart from these hotels, there is the bed-and-breakfast Penzión Nebeski, the cottages Chatka Zvonček and Betka, the cottage Chata Pohoda, cafeteria „U Svišťa" with a small shop where you can buy basic groceries.
The Podbanské surroundings from an angle you have never seen ... we like music, dancing and are looking forward to the videoclip of the popular dancer Laci Strike:
