Directly from Podbanské you can get to two beautiful valleys - Tichá and Kôprová. They are ideal for easy walks and bike trips.
Kôprová Valley is a 12 km long branched valley with a lot of side valleys. It is situated between the West and the High Tatras below the western slopes of the landmark Mount Kriváň. The valley, like the area around Kriváň remembers the old mining traditions associated in particular with gold mining activities. The hiking trails enable you to admire lakes and waterfalls, they climb up to the passes and even to the top of Kôprovský Peak. Along the forested lower part of the valley, a paved road leads along the Kôprovský Stream. Near its end, the valley is made more beautiful by the Kmeťov Waterfall.
Tichá Valley is the largest valley in the High Tatras, with a southern orientation. Despite its size it does not have an alpine character. The valley is bordered the Red Hills and the Liptov Hills. The end of the valley is formed by a ridge between Svinica, Valentková and Hladký Peak. The length of the valley is 16 km. Along the valley leads a yellow marked path which takes you to the Suché Pass near the top of Mount Kasprov (1987 m) – The walk is 5:45 up and 5:00 down.
